It was great to be able to try different blocks and fabrics adding all kinds of borders in order to find the perfect match.
I designed two different sailing ships and two different lighthouses and set them on a sky blue background.
The sky and the water have been made from lighter (sky) and darker (water) blue checkered shirt fabrics that work really well.
After some thinking I came up with the red and white "lifesaver" border that completes the marine look of the quilt.
The blocks have been quilted "in the ditch" while there's some free motion quilting on the sashing that resembles sea weed moving in the current.
